Notes |
- Philip Thompson raised a company and served as captain during the Mexican War at the occupation of Port Isabel from 9 Jun 1846 to 8 Jun 1847. He was a member of the executive council of the provisional Confederate government of Kentucky, 1861-1865. He and his sons John and Philip were involved in a notable Kentucky tragedy on 26 Nov 1873 during a court session in Harrodsburg, KY. Theodore H. Daviess and two of his sons exchanged gunfire with the Thompsons. The three Daviess men were killed and the three Thompson men were wounded but survived. Philip, Sr. was held over by the court, but was never indicted and no further prosecution was made.
