    Notes 
    • Thomas resided in that part of New Kent which became King William County in 1702 on the portion of "Romancoke" which later was called "Sweet Hall," given to him by his father 25 Jan 1673. In 1681 he was clerk of New Kent County. He served as Lt. Col. in the militia and was killed by an arrow fighting the Indians. His tombstone was moved from "Romancoke" to Hollywood Cem, Richmond, VA. It is inscribed, "Here Lyeth Interred ye body of Lt. Col Thomas Claybourne Son of Col. Wm Claybourne He departed this life ye 7th day of October Anno Domi 1683 Aetatis Suae 36 1 Mo : & 21 D."
