    • Gen. James West Pegram was a lawyer of Richmond, VA and a vestryman of Bristol Parish in 1839. He was first cashier and later president of the Bank of Virginia, and from Sept. 1835 until early 1837 owned 'The American Turf Register and Sporting Magazine'. He died along with 100 others while rescuing a lady and her children after the explosion of the steamboat 'Lucy Walker' on the Ohio River near New Albany, Indiana.
