• Notes

  John Herbert Claiborne Jr. attended the Univ. School at Petersburg and the Univ. of Virginia, 1879-83, and became a physician in New York, specializing in eye diseases. He served as captain of the 12th Regiment of New York Infantry Volunteers during the Spanish-American War. He published in 1917, "William Claiborne of Virginia, With Some Account of his Pedigree."
