Notes |
- Benjamin Latrobe was a leading minister of the Moravian Church. He had been a good friend of Admiral Sir Charles Middleton, First Lord of the Admiralty, and Benjamin when in his last illness spent five months at the Middleton estate, Teston Hall, and died in the Teston vicarage.
All of Benjamin's children, with the exception of Benjamin Henry, have descendants that used the two-word spelling of La trobe. As no Latrobes before him were known to have done so, perhaps he changed the spelling because of the Moravian Church. It is unclear if he changed the spelling before or after the birth of his children.
